The second T20I between Pakistan and South Africa will be played at Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, October 27. South Africa had won the first T20I to go up 1-0 in the series thanks to some good bowling and sensible batting.

South Africa will continue to be favourites to win the second T20I as well. Stan James offers 8/13 for another South African win, while Pakistan goes in at 8/5 (Boylesports).

It was Pakistan’s batting performance that let them down once again. All through the tour of England, the batsmen had struggled to make it count and things did not change in the first T20I. There were four scores between 10 and 25 and to compound the problem for Pakistan, none of the rest even touched double figures.

Mohammad Hafeez’s (5/1 at BetFred) role in the team has continued to come under much pressure and at best, he needs to bat down the order. Instead, Umar Akmal (4/1 at BetFred) and Misbah ul Haq (7/1 at Blue Square) could be pushed up by one position. Shahid Afridi (8/1 at Ladbrokes) must realise as the captain of the side that a quickfire 25 will not help the team as much as a well-compiled 40-45 – especially given that he bats at the number five position. 

South Africa will thank their middle-order pair of JP Duminy (6/1 at Blue Square) and Colin Ingram (11/2 at Boylesports) for a job well-done. Both scored 40s and guided the side to what turned out to be an easy win. But the worrying thing is the form of Graeme Smith (7/2 at Blue Square) who has continued to look like he is forcing the issue. Loots Bosman (4/1 at Ladbrokes) was preferred over Jacques Kallis (7/2 at BetFred) and he failed. He may still be persisted with.
