Mumbai Indians take on the Chennai Super Kings in the 25th match of the Indian Premier League on Friday. The night game will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and will see the two evenly matched-sides fight it out.

Mumbai v Chennai odds:
Mumbai’s (8/11 at Blue Square) start to the campaign has been good. They have won three of their four games, beating Delhi, Bangalore and Pune, while losing a high-scoring match against the Kochi Tuskers. On the other hand, Chennai (6/5 at BetFred) will look to overturn their unsteady form; they have won and lost every alternate game.

Ground and Pitch:
It will be a night game at the Wankhede stadium where the dew will play a part. In the previous night match played here, Mumbai Indians batted first and got to 188 before the dew made bowling difficult for Mumbai and a target of 189 easier for Kochi. Despite Pune’s capitulation for 119 in the previous game, this should be a high-scoring encounter.

Player News:
Mumbai Indians have both, the Orange and the Purple cap holders. Sachin Tendulkar (9/4 at SkyBet) was dismissed for the first time in the tournament in the fourth game and has clearly been one of the better batsmen in this edition. The flip to his and Ambati Rayadu’s (5/1 at SkyBet) long sojourns at the crease is that the middle-order batsmen have not had much time at the crease.

Andrew Symonds (8/1 at BetFred) did get a few balls in the middle against Pune, but Kieron Pollard (8/1 at Blue Square) has yet to face a ball in four games. It would be interesting to see how he goes about his batting if he gets a chance against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings.

Chennai could also look to tweak their line-up a little but it could be to do with their bowling than the batting. Michael Hussey (3/1 at Boylesports) and Murali Vijay (7/2 at Blue Square) look settled at the top of the innings, while Suresh Raina (4/1 at Blue Square), despite being short of runs will be a key at the number three position.

MS Dhoni (11/2 at Boylesports) will look to a performance of similar kind to the one that they had doled out against Bangalore. Hussey had been able to bat through the innings and the remaining batsmen had played their shots from the word go. Against the Mumbai Indians bowling, it could just be a little more difficult though.

Prediction:
This one is difficult to call. After all, these are two sides which not only had met in the previous year’s IPL final but also retained most of their players from the previous years. One can hope for a tough-as-nails, nail-biting contest at the Wankhede.
