Kolkata Knight Riders v Chennai Super Kings IPL Game 48 at Kolkata Preview and Tips

The Kolkata Knight Riders will host the Chennai Super Kings in the 48th game of the Indian Premier League this season. The game will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Both sides, Chennai and Kolkata have won six games each, although, the Super Kings have played nine games while Kolkata have played one more.

Kolkata v Chennai odds:
The Knight Riders (1/1 at Bwin) go into the game with a loss under their belt in their previous one to Kochi. The Knight Riders had failed to chase down a target. The Knight Riders had also lost to the Super Kings (10/11 at Coral) in the previous game between the two sides, which was also the first game of the IPL. The Super Kings have now won four in a row but will look to improve their record away from home.

Ground and Pitch:
The track at the Eden Gardens will be slow but will not drastically change its form like the one at M Chidamabaram in Chennai. Batting will either be difficult throughout or play true without the change of nature during the game.

Player News:
The Super Kings have stuck to the same group of players through thick and thin and there is no reason to believe that they will go into the game with the same eleven. The batting, especially, should remain the same, with man of the match winner from the previous game, Michael Hussey (5/2 at Coral), opening the innings with the out of form Murali Vijay (7/2 at Coral).

What has been good news is the couple of half centuries that Suresh Raina (9/2 at Coral) has got in the previous couple of matches after a relatively dry spell with the bat. With almost everyone else having got the runs, it could be left to the captain, MS Dhoni (11/2 at Stan James) to do the job with the bat in the times to come.

Despite failure in the Kochi game, Gautam Gambhir (10/3 at bet365) continues to be the batsman to watch out for the Knight Riders. Eoin Morgan (9/2 at Coral) hit his first ever IPL half-century last game and for a brief period looked like he was on his way to taking his side to a win – reaping the faith that his captain and the management had shown him. It wouldn’t be such a bad idea if the two for players, Gambhir and Morgan opened the innings with Jacques Kallis (13/5 at bet365) dropping to the number three.

Yusuf Pathan (13/2 at Coral) would look forward to a longish stay at the crease.

Prediction:
Chennai will be favourites to win but do not be surprised if Kolkata spring an upset at home.
