Kochi Tuskers Kerala v Kings XI Punjab IPL Game 57 at Indore Preview and Tips

Two teams, both needing to win all their remaining games to have a chance of qualifying for the playoffs, Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Kings XI Punjab, will play each other in the 57th game of the Indian Premier League.

The match will be played at the Holkar cricket ground in Indore and will be Kochi’s new home for their remaining games. It will be the only game this Friday.

Kochi v Punjab odds:
Kochi (10/11 at Blue Square) have won five out of their 11 games and that leaves them needing to win the remaining three matches including this one to go through to the playoffs. On the other hand, the Kings XI Punjab (1/1 at Bwin) have four wins in 10 games and their situation is not too different from Kochi’s; win all or crash out.

Essentially, the losing team will be out of the tournament, that makes this a must-win encounter between two average teams in the competition this year.

Ground and Pitch:
This is the first game that will be played on this ground in the IPL and one can expect it to be a good batting track.

Player News:
Kings XI Punjab go into this game with a confidence-boosting win over the table-toppers, Mumbai Indians. It was brought about by a concerted batting effort from their top four, followed by some good bowling by Bhargav Bhatt.

Adam Gilchrist (7/2 at Blue Square) finally showed glimpses of some form in the Mumbai Indians game and will look to continue from the 28 that he got. Paul Valthaty (7/2 at Blue Square) slashed around before he got out but it was the batting of Punjab’s most consistent batsman Shaun Marsh (10/3 at 888Sport) and Dinesh Karthik (5/1 at 888Sport) that saw the side through to a challenging score.

Kochi’s dependence on Brendon McCullum (3/1 at bet365) is well-chronicled, as is the fact that their captain Mahela Jaywardene (7/2 at Boylesports) is not in the best of nicks. Where they need assistance is similar to their opposition; the middle-order which has not really fired in the tournament.

Parthiv Patel (11/2 at Blue Square) showed much promise at the start, but hasn’t got hold of too many runs while the batting of Ravindra Jadeja (15/2 at bet365) needs to come at a more useful time than in a losing cause.

Michael Klinger (9/2 at Blue Square) could miss out this game in order to accommodate Muthiah Muralitharan, which could allow VVS Laxman to sneak into the side.

Prediction
Punjab will be slightly favourites to win the game but if the Kochi Tuskers can get their playing eleven right, things could get real exciting.
