India play Bangladesh in the fourth game of the Asia Cup 2012 on Friday, March 16. The match will be played at Mirpur.

The hosts Bangladesh gave a good account of themselves in their opening game and were unlucky to go down narrowly to Pakistan. They will, however, know that another loss here to India will end their chances of making it to the final.

With Pakistan winning their second game against Sri Lanka, it has almost sealed their finals berth, which will allow only one of the remaining three sides a place in the final. A win for India will clinch them the finals spot against Pakistan, rendering the remaining two group games as meaningless from the qualification for the final.

The home team will be thrilled to have an in-form Tamim Iqbal back into the playing 11 after he was controversially left out by the cricket board’s chief. Shakib al Hasan slammed a 64 as well in a run-chase that could have gone in their favour had the lower-order supported the former captain.

The one other player to look out for India will Nasir Hossain. It was not only his batting at the number seven position but also his fielding within the circle that may be something for India to be wary of – a run-out or two is always a possibility.

India will know they cannot afford to slacken. They came into the tournament with a shoddy display in Australia and the fans will find it difficult to digest another early exit in the tournament or a shock defeat at the hands of Bangladesh.

The other worry is Sachin Tendulkar’s form and his long overdue 100th century. He hasn’t got his timing right since the ODIs in Australia and he will look to overcome the issue in this game. With Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir in the kind of form they have shown in recent times, skipper MS Dhoni’s only other issue could be their bowling which has the tendency of being hit around on flat wickets.

The bowling department, however, may not change for this game given the way they came back to restrict Sri Lanka in their opener. India should be favourites here.

The India v Bangladesh Asia Cup game will begin from 8 am GMT on March 16.
