England v West Indies 3rd Test live and odds

England play West Indies in the third and final Test match of the series starting from June 7 at Edgbaston.

England have already won the series by winning the first two of the three Tests, by five and nine wickets respectively. They will be looking for a clean sweep while West Indies, as acknowledged by their opening batsman Adrian Barath, will be playing for pride.

With the series already pocketed, England will go into the third Test with a change in their line-up. James Anderson has been rested, much to the chagrin of some of the critics – and to the disappointment of the player himself – and will be replaced by one of Graham Onions or Steven Finn.

There is also a buzz that Stuart Broad may be given a break from the third game, which could mean that both Onions, and Finn will take over the fast bowling mantle. And unless England decide to go in with a five-man bowling attack – which they usually don’t – the batting order should remain the same.

This means that Jonny Bairstow (12/1 at SkyBet) gets another chance to impress the selectors after two failures. It will also be the first Test match that Kevin Pietersen (4/1 at BetFred) plays since announcing his retirement from ODIs and T20Is and a lot of the attention will be focussed on him.

West Indies will have at least one change to their line-up too. Kemar Roach has flown back to the West Indies with an injury and he will be replaced by Sunil Narine, the mysterious spinner from Trinidad and Tobago. While the formats are hardly comparable, Narine had an excellent IPL in which he befuddled most batsmen with his brand of slow bowling and England could find him a handful.

The West Indian top-order is living on borrowed time. Of the top four batsmen in the line-up, Darren Bravo’s 75 runs in four innings is the best they have managed to eke out – Barath has 73, Kieran Powell’s scored 47 while vice-captain Kirk Edwards’ had two ducks, a single and a seven to his name.

The options that West Indies have are Narsingh Deonarine and Assad Fudadin – both all-rounders who can bat in the middle-order. Again, a lot will depend on how the pair of Marlon Samuels and Shivnarine Chanderpaul do if the West Indies have to come close to giving England a fight.

Coral offers 8/15 for a drawn game to bet365’s 15/8 for an English win. West Indies have an outside chance of winning this game at 16/1 (Blue Square).

The England-West Indies 3rd Test begins from June 7 and will start at 11 am BST.
