With the series already pocketed, the English management has made some changes to the squad, resting a few senior players. While the bowling will still be led by James Anderson, the trio of Stuart Broad, Tim Bresnan and Graeme Swann has been rested from this game. England are 8/11 (Blue Square) to win this game.

In place of the three players given a break, the selectors have named Stuart Meaker, Chris Woakes and James Tredwell in the squad. Meaker is a quicker bowler who played a couple of ODIs last year in India, Woakes is an all-rounder who has also played a clutch of internationals for the national side while Tredwell was one of the English spinners in last year’s World Cup.

Jade Dernbach will continue to remain in the squad after having missed the previous match having afforded a lead on compassionate grounds following the death of his cricketer friend Tom Maynard.

The batting will largely look the same with the in-form duo of Alastair Cook (7/2 at BetVictor) and Ian Bell (7/2 at Ladbrokes) to open the innings for the team. Bell had a century in the first ODI and followed it up with another half-century in the second. Cook smashed a scintillating hundred in the previous ODI to light up the English chase.

Likes of Jonathon Trott and Ravi Bopara down the order will hope for a longer chance at the crease.

West Indies (6/5 at Stan James) have been slow to arrive at the ODIs one would have to say. Barring the Chris Gayle (5/2 at Boylesports) half-century and Dwayne Bravo’s late effort of 77, the rest haven’t really got going in the batting department. Rather slow scores of 12 and 15 from Lendl Simmons as an opener haven’t helped and Gayle would be happier to have someone who can rotate the strike around more fluidly.

Darren Sammy batted seven in the second ODI which seemed a tad higher for him. West Indies probably need an extra batsman at that slot. However, they have a fine juggling act to perform as the inclusion of a batsman at seven will severely weaken the bowling.

In the final analysis, they may not change their batting balance for this game given the weakening of the English bowling attack for the match.

The England v West Indies 3rd ODI begins at 10.45 am local time on June 22.
