Test cricket’s return witnessed a pleasing viewing experience for the neutral spectator as England managed to win by five wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the three-Test series.

After a troubled time in South Asia in the winters, England (1/3 at Stan James) returned to their familiar ways of winning at home with a hard-fought win. They will be keen to carry the momentum further, similar to their story last summer.

Andrew Strauss will be pleased by the courage and fight displayed by his team. In addition, he has personal milestones to be happy about as well, having scored his first century in 18 months. The team will also bank on Alastair Cook and Ian Bell who both scored fluently at Lord’s. The bowlers will also look to stick to their task well with Stuart Broad in rich form having picked up 11 wickets in the last Test.

Broad 11-wicket haul has spawned off Ladbrokes deciding to return back £50,000 if he wins the man-of-the-match award at Trent Bridge.

West Indies (9/1 at Bwin) will be hoping for a change in fortunes but it is a change in mindset that they require. Yet again they were in with a chance and yet failed to seal the key moments.

Defending 191, they had England 4 down for 57 before their venom faded away. Shivnarine Chanderpaul continues to be the lone fighter with scores of 87* and 91 that further cemented his position as the No. 1 batsmen.

Marlon Samuels made a pleasant comeback on his way to a crucial 86 and the experienced duo will have plenty of expectations attached to them. Kemar Roach is the main weapon with the ball with six wickets in Lord’s test while Fidel Edwards can also be threatening.

888Sport offers 5/1 for a draw but on a ground that has had eight successive results one way or the other, it looks highly doubtful.

The match will be played at Trent Bridge where England has a good recent record, having not a Test on the ground since 2007.
