A brilliant opening day in Adelaide for the tourists, who are now in control of the match

England completely dominated Day One of the 2nd Ashes Test, with James Anderson taking four Australian wickets as the tourists bowled out their opponents for 245.

Simon Katich was run out by Jonathan Trott before any runs were on the board and then Anderson claimed the wicket of captain Ricky Ponting to leave the Aussies 0 for 2.

It was to get even better for Anderson as he claimed the wicket of Michael Clarke to leave Australia reeling at 2 for 3, with the Adelaide crowd stunned by England’s start to the match.

Shane Watson and Michael Hussey were able to steady the ship, putting on 94 runs between them and it was Hussey’s 93 which ensures that his team are still in the match.

Even so, Ladbrokes now make England the 8/11 favourites to win the 2nd Test, with the draw available at 9/4 and Australia on offer at 4/1.
