Australia bowled out for 98 on the opening day, with James Anderson and Chris Tremlett taking four wickets each

Sky Bet makes England 1/6 to win the fourth Ashes Test after a sensational opening day in Melbourne.

On winning the toss England skipper Andrew Strauss inserted the Aussies and it paid rich dividends as they skittled the home side out for just 98 with Chris Tremlett and James Anderson both claiming four wicket hauls.

Openers Alastair Cook (80) and Strauss (64) then piled up 157-0 to give England a lead of 59. Cook is 4/11 to make his third century of the series and 2/1 not to do so.

It all leaves the Aussies in desperate trouble and a 14/1 chance to turn the tables in the current match and force victory. Ricky Ponting’s men are also a 12-1 shot to win the series outright with England 1/2 and a drawn series 2/1.
