The County Championship is cricket’s equivalent of the Premiership in football. Once again, the eighteen English counties are divided in two with half playing in Division 1 and the other half contesting Division 2. The format of each game is the same as a Test Match – the only difference being they are played over four days rather than five.
This is the principle competition as far as English domestic cricket is concerned and, as such, it is a fiercely competitive one. 2006 champions were Sussex, who also managed this feat in 2003. Nottinghamshire were the victors in 2005, although they were relegated in 2006, which demonstrates how the balance of power can shift very quickly in domestic cricket.
Naturally, you can expect bookmakers to offer the similar type of match betting markets available on Test Match cricket. As well as the Result (Team A – Draw – Team B), expect markets such as Highest Opening Partnership, Top Team A Batsman, Top Team B Batsman and Win First Innings.
