Chennai Super Kings v Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL Game 14 at Chepauk Preview and Tips

The Chennai Super Kings will host the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 14th game of the Indian Premier League 2011. The match will be played at the Chepauk in Chennai.

Chennai v Bangalore odds:
Both Chennai Super Kings (8/11 at William Hill) and Royal Challengers (5/4 at SkyBet), lost their last games of the tournament. What makes it worse for Bangalore is that they have gone down in two in a row now and have not looked like the champion side that they had at the start of the tournament.

The Super Kings were blown away by that freak show from Paul Valthaty and may have to look at changing their bowling around. However, given that it is a home game, the defending champions will go into the game as favourites to win it.

Ground and Pitch:
The track at Chennai has been slower and more sluggish than most others in the country. This will mean that the sides will look to get the runs off the new ball and consolidate once the ball loses its sheen and the Powerplay overs end.

Player News:
Chennai will welcome the return of Australia left-handed batsman Michael Hussey (10/3 at Paddy Power), who could immediately make it to the playing eleven. One of Scott Styris (8/1 at Stan James) or Albie Morkel (12/1 at SkyBet), in that case, could sit out. However, it is not as if the third foreign cricketer, Suraj Randiv has bowled too well either and there could be a fair bit changed around.

Murali Vijay (3/1 at Paddy Power) was explosive in the previous game against Punjab and S Badrinath (13/2 at Paddy Power) gave him good company. Both will need to bat in an identical manner against a fledgling Bangalore bowling.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have conceded far too many runs with the ball thanks to the lack of experience. As a result, there is much pressure on their batsmen. That said, T Dilshan (10/3 at SkyBet) hasn’t found his timing in any of the three games and the team will need to change that. AB de Villiers (7/2 at SkyBet) had a blip in his form in the previous game but he continues to be the reliable batsman in the middle-order as does Virat Kohli (4/1 at SkyBet), who finally batted against the Chargers as is his wont.

Prediction:
While Chennai will be favourites to win this game, there cannot be too much doubting that Bangalore has the class to overcome then. They only need their second-string bowlers to support Zaheer Khan and Daniel Vettori well.
