With this, the Super Kings became the second team after the New South Wales Blues to win the tournament. The Warriors batted first and were off to a quick start before the loss of Ashwell Prince and captain and in-form Davy Jacobs hit the side hard. From 39/0 in four overs, the side continued with its slide downwards and were 82/5 in the 14th over at one stage. The recovery was minimal from that stage and the side ended with only 128/7 in their 20 overs on a pitch that looked conducive for the batsmen. It was the Super Kings spinners that did the necessary damage – Muralitharan and Ashwin picking up five wickets between them for 32 runs only. In reply, the Chennai Super Kings did not lose any early wicket, which meant that the Warriors were almost shut out of the game. The opening pair of Murali Vijay and Michael Hussey added 100 for the first wicket, before a few lusty blows by Dhoni ended the game. Vijay was declared the man of the match while Ashwin was the man of the series. The two also won the golden bat and golden stumps award for most runs and wickets in the tournament respectively. Vijay now joins Dhoni and Suresh Raina to play the Aussies in a two Test match series in India. Hussey will be a part of the Australian team. India are favourites to win the series 1-0 (3/1 at Paddy Power), as compared to an offer of 7/2 (William Hill) if Australia wins it 1-0. A 0-0 drawn series is at 7/2 (William Hill) while 1-1 draw is at 13/2 (Paddy Power).
