The second season of Champions League T20 will start from September 10 and there will be ten teams participating in the tournament.

The ten teams are divided into two groups of five sides each and after a round-robin league, the top two from each group will play in the semi-finals. There will be a total of 23 games in the tournament. The matches will be played across four venues in South Africa, Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Centurion.

There are three sides from the IPL, two each from Australia and South Africa and one team from New Zealand, Sri Lanka and West Indies.

It was seen in the previous edition of the tournament that the sides which have played cricket together throughout the season were the ones that did well at such a stage. None of the IPL teams, despite playing at home managed to qualify for the semi-finals, while a side like Trinidad and Tobago, which went into the tournament as underdogs went on to enter the final.

Three of the sides playing in this edition, Bangalore, Victoria and Wayamba, had also qualified for the previous edition of the CLT20, and will obviously have that experience of going about their business.

Bangalore goes into the tournament as favourites to win it, with SportingBet offering 9/2 for their win. Chennai Super Kings (5/1 at William Hill) will be led by MS Dhoni and Mumbai Indians (5/1 at Stan James) are captained by the crowd favourite, Sachin Tendulkar, and are the second and the third favourites to go through to the final and triumph. Victoria (13/2 at SportingBet), who have won all but one of their domestic T20 competitions will be one side to watch out for, despite the absence of their regular captain, Cameron White.
