It’s now four games since that last win and Thunder are languishing at the seventh spot in the points table after one thought they would go through to the semi-final with consummate ease.Captaincy and batting has been an issue. Daniel Smith (9/2 at Stan James) hasn’t been able to manage either with aplomb but the blame must be pinned on the selectors, who haven’t given the management too many T20 batting options to play with.Gayle aside, not too many of the others have done too much with the bat and that has hurt the side no end. They will come into the game with scars from being bowled out for 99 on a perfectly placid Sydney track against Perth. And from Usman Khawaja and Ben Dunk having scored only 69 and 53 runs respectively in the tournament from the six games. This game will be epitomised by the Gayle versus Vettori clash but how the burly West Indian handles Allister McDermott and Michael Neser will be an interesting sub-plot of the main theme.
