Bangladesh will play Sri Lanka in the last round-robin game of the Asia Cup 2012 on Tuesday, March 20. The match will be played at Mirpur.

As things stand in the tournament, one of the finalists has been decided and the other will be revealed after this game. Pakistan, with nine points from three games are through to the final despite a thumping loss at the hands of India on Sunday while one of Bangladesh or India will join them in the title-fight.

The equation is simple now. Sri Lanka is out of the tournament, while a win for Bangladesh in this game against the Lankans will be enough for them to qualify for the final. On the other hand, anything less than a win for Bangladesh will push India through to the final against Pakistan.

In both games that the home team has played so far, they have chased and done a sterling job at that. In their opener against Pakistan, they nearly chased down 262, falling short because of the early loss of wickets before completely an improbable target hunt of 290 against India.

If they bat second, it may not be any different for the home team given their batting strength on a flat track that it turns out to be in the second innings. The Lankan bowling does not possess too much firepower in the absence of the likes of Angelo Mathews and Thisara Perera and that will be a huge plus for the Bangladeshi side.

Shakib al Hasan will be the player to watch out for the home team after his successive all-round shows while Tamim Iqbal seems to have put all the controversy about his non-selection behind him. He has hit two successive half-centuries in the tournament and will be gunning for a bigger score against Sri Lanka.

Where Bangladesh lack is their bowling, with the missing incision being a big issue. The problem could magnify if they bowl second under lights, when the ball comes on the bat more easily.

How a dispirited Lankan side responds in this dead game for them, will be vital. After all they will not want to return home with three losses and at the bottom of the pile in a tournament they have always finished in the top two.

The Bangladesh v Sri Lanka Asia Cup game will begin from 8 am GMT on March 20.
