Australian Cricket betting at StanJames

- 7 Oct 2008

Stan James are breaking new ground and will be betting on all domestic Australian cricket this winter including the Sheffield Shield the premier world domestic cricket competition.

Head of PR Charlie McCann: "We make New South Wales the 2/1 favourites for the tournament which begins in the early hours of Thursday morning. If your team loses by an innings in any of the Sheffield Shield games we will refund losing bets placed on the outright outcome of the match. The Sheffield Shield has long been accepted as being the premier and most competitive domestic cricket competition in the world and we are excited about this new initiative. Justin Langer recently suggested the County Championship was improving rapidly at present but there is only one Sheffield Shield.

Stan James make Victoria the 11/4 favourites for both One Day tournaments the Ford Ranger Cup and the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash although the latter doesn't begin until Boxing Day. The former begins on Wednesday morning with Western Australia the 8/13 favourites to beat New South Wales 5/4.

Stanjames are also betting on the India V Australia Test series beginning on Thursday and are continuing with their popular concession of money back if your selected 1st innings top bat scores a century but is not top scorer in the innings. Given the relative weakness of the Aussie bowling attack and the benign sub-continent pitches this could be a real bonus for punters frustrated that a ton isn't enough to give them a winning bet.
