Australia v West Indies 2nd T20I at Sydney preview and tips

After a rather comprehensive win in the first game of the two match T20I series, the Aussies will now look to make it 2-0 against West Indies in the second game at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

West Indies will be a ragged side, having not won a single game on tour. Not only that, in none of the games did they come too close either, which meant that the Aussies have been runaway winners this summer. They will look to end their home summer unbeaten, and very obviously, go into the game as favourites (4/11 at Sky Bet) as compared to 13/5 for West Indies (Totesport) to salvage some pride out of the tour.

The West Indian problems are two-fold. The bowling has failed to get some quick, early blows, while the batting has been devoid of any starts. One just gets the sense that the tourists need to consider the option of batting the likes of Shaun Tait and Dirk Nannes out of the attack, with someone like a Narsingh Deonarine (7/1 at Sky Bet) or Runako Morton (8/1 at Totesport to top-score for the West Indian side) batting through the innings. Chris Gayle (3/1 at Totesport to top-score for West Indies), one feels is probably being too aggressive at the start and his early dismissals have put an unwholesome pressure on the rest of his side.

Kieron Pollard (11/2 at Sky Bet to top-score for his side) continues to do everything expected out of him with the bat, ball and in the field, and could be the man to watch out for in this format of the game before he heads off to Mumbai to play in the IPL.

The Aussies were bolstered by the presence of Shane Watson and Dave Warner (both 7/2 at Ladbrokes to top-score for Australia) at the top and unless the West Indies can come up with a strong plan, things may not change around too much in this game. And despite the comfortable nature of the win, the tourists may not expect any respite in the form of changing things around, especially given that this is the one format that the Aussies want to really do well in.

This will mean that Michael Clarke (9/2 at 888Sport) and Cameron White (11/2 at Coral, both to top-score for Australia) could be expected to really give the ball a fair hammer after relatively low scores previously, and Travis Birt (10/1 at Sky Bet to be the best batsman for his side) should be afforded another opportunity.

Tips:
Favourites: Australia (4/11 at Sky Bet)
Top Aussie batsman: Michael Clarke (9/2 at 888Sport)
Top West Indian batsman: Chris Gayle (3/1 at Totesport)
