Trainer Nicky Henderson is hoping that Kelso will be able to stage racing on Thursday as he gets set to give Zaynar his final preparation ahead of the Champion Hurdle next month.
Zaynar, the current antepost favourite for the Cheltenham showpiece, will put his unbeaten British record on the line in the Victor Chandler Morebattle Hurdle, but officials fear the threat of frost could scupper the five-year-old’s plans.
"It's becoming a bit of a horror story. We're just keeping our fingers crossed the meeting will be on," said the explained Henderson.
"He left this morning as obviously he has a long journey to make, but we are just waiting to see whether the track would be raceable later this afternoon and what chance there is for tomorrow.
"I know there is frost forecast, but maybe the forecast is wrong."
Zaynar won the Triumph Hurdle at last year’s Festival and is currently a 4/1 shot with William Hill to win Tuesday’s feature..
"I don't really want to speculate on what we might do if the meeting is off, we will just have to cross the bridge when we come to it, but I want to get this run into him," he added.
"The horse is in good order, though, and ready for a run.
"I'm not worried about him only having had two runs so far this year, he went to Cheltenham after just two runs last year and it didn't stop him in the Triumph."
