Backers of Cheltenham Gold Cup-bound Diamond Harry will be alarmed  to hear that trainer Nick Williams believes his superstar isn’t in the form that saw him land the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury last November.

The eight-year-old has been kept fresh since his sensational performance last year and punters have backed the horse into 10/1 to win the blue riband event.

The talented chaser wasn’t at his best in the RSA Chase at last year’s Festival and Williams is concerned that his stable star isn’t showing the same sort of enthusiasm that saw him arrive at Newbury in the form of his life.

"I'm not as happy with him as I was going into the Hennessy and he's possibly an autumn horse," Williams explained.

"When you look back at his form he's always been at his best in November and December and then once we get into the New Year, for whatever reason, he seems to be not quite as good.

"He's just not showing the same sparkle as he does in the autumn."
