Philip Hobbs has admitted he can’t wait to run Menorah in this next month’s Champion Hurdle.

Paddy Power are offering all new customers a free £100 bet on Menorah winning the 2011 Champion Hurdle.  The horse is currently trading at 5/1 meaning that if he wins at the Festival, you can pocket a whopping £500.

The trainer is thrilled with the progress of his stable star and with less than five weeks to go until the big race Hobbs is beginning to put the final touches to the preparation of the 2010 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner.

"He worked brilliantly this morning. We stepped up his work earlier than anticipated due to the fact he's put on a bit of condition having had an easy time in December, which is a good fault,” Hobbs explained.

“I'd rather have it that way so we can work him hard and get him fitter and better.

"I couldn't be more happy with him but surely this is one of the best Champion Hurdles we've had for some time? I'm very, very pleased with the horse and feel there's still room for improvement but it's a very hot race."

Hobbs revealed that Peddlers Cross was the horse he feared most ahead of the big race but still believes there is more to come from Menorah.

"They are all potentially very good but if I had to have one not to run against in the Champion Hurdle I suppose it would be Peddler's Cross.

"He's one of those few horses, touch wood, where there's no faults. He has the most fantastic temperament, works well, enjoys his work on a daily basis and is still a potential improver," he continued.

"The worst situation, which isn't too bad, is we'll get beat in the Champion Hurdle and go novice chasing next season. He'd be a lovely novice chaser. If we win the Champion Hurdle I suppose we'd have to aim for another one!"
