Grand Crus set for 2012 Cheltenham Gold Cup bid?

The ante post betting for the 2012 Cheltenham Festival continues to change and the action ahead of the meeting is beginning to heat up.

Cheltenham's ante-post market is always a tasty proposition around this time of the year when the form is starting to take on a rock solid look.

And leading the way in best bets has to be Grands Crus, who at 2/1 for the RSA Chase looks decent value when included in what looks like an interesting patent with Long Run for the Gold Cup (5/2) and the absolutely outstanding Sprinter Sacre at (5/2).

With Hurricane Fly still sidelined despite assuring noises from trainer Willie Mullins, it would be a brave man who is ready to take the odds of 9/4 with Grandouet available at 5/1.

Don't forget all of the fantastic markets we have to offer, including In-Play betting, can be accessed on your mobile phone with the new and improved Mobile at bet365.

There may be a few raised eyebrows at Long Run's inclusion given two beatings by Kauto Star but there are good reasons for believing he can turn the defeats around at the Festival.

Firstly connection will undoubtedly tongue-tie him after noticing it lolling out Shergar-style in the King George and secondly, amid all the excitement as the People's Champion crossed the line first, sharp-eyed observers will have noticed that Nicky Henderson's horse was closing him down all the way to the line.

Up the Cheltenham hill in March rather than at flat Kempton in December, that could be a massively important issue.

Grand Crus has to be the banker bet of the meeting if ignoring odds-on Big Bucks for, after impressive wins at Cheltenham and Kempton where he accounted for Bobs Worth, there looks nothing around to live with him.

Sprinter Sacre's astonishing thrashing of Peddler's Cross this week confirmed everything Henderson has been saying about the horse this term - that this one looks likely to be one of the best to pass through his hands.

And with Henderson handling three of the leading hopes - Grandouet, Sprinter Sacre and Long Run at the Blue Riband West Country meeting - a little side bet on him being leading trainer could prove profitable.
