Donald McCain is refusing to give up on his stable star Peddlers Cross after his recent beating by Sprinter Sacre.

He was hammered by 16 lengths when the pair clashed at Kempton Park on Boxing Day and as a result has become the Cheltenham forgotten horse.

However, McCain refuses to panic, declaring: "That was a very disappointing day, but the horse remains very special. I don't think there's been a day since at home when Peddlers hasn't been a machine so there's absolutely no panic."

After revealing that Overturn is ready to take his chance in the Champion Hurdle, the top trainer made it clear he thought he had every chance of getting into the prize money.

He paid tribute to the amazing current champ, Hurricane Fly, but made it clear that while he would be a very difficult horse to beat there was no reason not to run Overturn.

Peddlers Cross is 14/1 to win the Champion Hurdle with bet365, with Overturn 28/1 and Hurricane Fly 8/11.

Much the same rationale is applied to Weird Al, who is set to go for the Gold Cup, with McCain adding: "He produced a nice run at Haydock. He is a young horse who is improving and is capable of producing a nice each way run.

"Once again I can see no reason why he shouldn't run into the money."
