Racing’s charity song ‘Cheltenham’, which was released on Sunday, is rated a 4-1 shot by William Hill to top the Irish Charts, and 1-6 to get into the Irish top 10 .

The tune, which is a reworking of Petula Clark’s hit single ‘Downtown’, replaces the words ‘Downtown’ in the song with ‘Cheltenham’, while Tony Hatch, the originally writer, has given the verses a racing theme.

Racing stars such as Tony McCoy, Barry Geraghty, Paul Nicholls, Noel Meade, ‘Big Mac’ John McCririck and Derek Thompson sing the songs chorus,

All proceeds from the single will go to the Bob Champion Cancer Trust, Racing Welfare, Ireland's National Rehabilitation Hospital and Riding for the Disabled.

William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny said “If the Irish have a good week at Cheltenham then it’ll have a great chance of going to number 1.” He continued “The line-up isn’t exactly ‘Live Aid’, but it is for charity and we think it will be very popular with the Irish racegoers.”

William Hill – ‘Cheltenham’ Charity song specials: 1-6 To reach the top 10 in the Irish Singles Charts, 4-1 To be number 1 in the Irish Singles Charts
