The Triumph Hurdle is a race that Nicky Henderson has dominated in recent years and the trainer will be hoping that Friday’s renewal can give him his first winner at this year’s Cheltenham Festival.

He will be relying on long time ante post favourite Grandouet, A Media Luz and Molotof as he looks to fire home a winner after a hugely frustrating week.  Grandouet certainly looks the best of the bunch and the market leader hasn’t looked back since he was hammered by Paul Nicholls’ Sam Winner in November.

His conqueror that day returns on the back of a break having fluffed his lines in Grade One company and he is sure to be popular with Ruby Walsh up in the saddle, however, a chance could be worth taking on Dermot Weld’s Irish raider Unaccompanied who looks like she could be absolutely anything having made the switch to hurdles this season.

The selection was a facile winner of a maiden hurdle at Punchestown in December before she sauntered to a sensational success in a Grade One at Leopardstown, a race in which she cruised into contention before putting the race to bed under the hands of Paul Townend.

Her trainer won this race with Rare Holiday 21 years ago and the leading dual purpose handler is sure to have her cherry ripe for her trip to Prestbury Park.  It seems certain that she will cruise into the race and in-running punters will have the opportunity to lay off their bets as the race begins to heat up and if the forecast rain arrives it would do her chances no harm at all.

Nick Wilby’s selection – Unaccompanied 7/1 (Coral)
