Ricky Hatton to win in Round Ten most popular bet

- 29 Apr 2009

Punters and bookmakers seem to be at odds over the chances of Ricky Hatton in his latest superfight this weekend, reports Paddy Power.

As is fitting for the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter, Paddy Power has installed Manny Pacquaio as the 2/5 favourite to win the fight and just 5/4 to win by KO or TKO. But as ever for Hatton the patriotic punt is firmly behind The Hitman who is 7/4 to win and 10/3 by way of knockout.

More than 80% of bets so far are on Hatton with a win for the Manchester man in round ten the most popular round bet to date at 35/1.

Paddy Power has a whole host of specials for the fight including where Hatton’s first punch lands, with 8/15 the head the favourite, first fighter to land a punch and how the fight will be won. Pacquaio is the 8/11 favourite to land the first punch whilst the most likely method of victory is Pacquaio by KO/TKO.

Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: "The bookies are going to be knocked out by Hatton if he wins this one, it will certainly be the biggest scalp of his fine career.”

"Hatton fights are always huge in the betting stakes and this one will be no exception. It may not quite break the betting records of the Hatton-Mayweather bout but it’s going to be right up there."

It certainly looks to be an exciting fight on the cards and Paddy Power is offering 8/15 the bout fails to go the distance. The bookie is also offering 11/1 for a repeat of the Rocky-esque Carl Froch fight last week with Hatton or Pacquaio winning the fight in the final round.
