The weight of money bet on Hatton has now distorted the true odds to the extent that Mayweather - the favourite - might be a value bet.

All boxing betting records have been smashed at bookies across the country over the last few days. Ladbrokes, Coral, Paddypower, Bet365 have been overwhelmed with the flood of bets on Hatton.  Bookies are reporting that most of the money is on Hatton to win, Hatton to win by a knockout and to win between rounds 7 and 9. Betfair similarly has reported record matches on the exchange. With more than 24 hours to go before the fight starts betting volumes are expected to reach unprecedented levels.

But against all this noise the underlying odds have changed markedly and may now not reflect the initial market estimates.  In fact, Hatton Mayweather odds have changed dramatically since the beginning of the year. For example:  Paddypower offered odds of 2/1 Hatton and 4/11 on Mayweather when the Hatton Mayweather fight was announced.  Now the irish bookie offers Hatton at 11/7 and Mayweather at 4/7

With the tightening of odds for Hatton you would be well advised to look at alternative markets to profit if you decide to bet on Hatton. Our own tipster Ross Aylward earlier this week tipped backing Hatton in alternate markets such as the BBC Sports Personality of the Year market at 11/4 (Boylesports); the reason being if Hatton wins the fight he is likely to garner enough votes to carry the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, beating the housewive's favourite Paula Radcliffe and the soon to be expat Lewis Hamilton.

When you place bet on Hatton you should also bear in mind that although everyone wants Hatton to do good bigger punters have been piling into Mayweather and large internet bets on Mayweather have been reported by both Pinnacle Sports and Ladbrokes
