More than 20 months after defeating Ricky Hatton in the same MGM Grand arena, the 32-year-old American dominated his Mexican opponent throughout a one-sided contest. Mayweather had Marquez down with a crunching left hook in the second round, produced a cut above his right eye soon after and looked set for a late stoppage as he piled on the punches in the 10th and 11th rounds. However, Mexican warrior Marquez, who had never been stopped in 55 previous fights, hung on bravely for the final bell and Mayweather had to settle for moving to 40-0 via the judges' emphatic scorecards. "He is as tough as nails and I take my hat off to him," said Mayweather. "But I've been off nearly two years and I can get better." 'Money' Mayweather is now a 1/2 favourite with Ladbrokes to beat Pacquiao should they face each other next year, with the Philippines fighter 6/4 and a draw 25/1. However, 'Pacman' must first get past the tough challenge of Miguel Angel Cotto in Nevada on November 14. In what will be his first outing since crushing Hatton inside two rounds in May, Pacquiao is 1/2 at Sky Bet to win that contest, with Puerto Rican Cotto 9/5 at best with sportingbet to successfully defend his WBO welterweight title. Mayweather was also quoted at 2/7 by Ladbrokes to beat Shane Mosley in 2010 after the pair exchanged words in the ring after his win over Marquez. "Mayweather's speed and defence were as good as ever and will provide huge problems for any future opponent, whether it's Pacquiao, Mosley or anyone else," said Ladbrokes spokesman Nick Weinberg Read our 888Sport review Claim your £88 free bet at 888Sport now Like Like Post to wall 276 Reads All Boxing News Recent Boxing Articles Carl Froch v Lucian Bute preview - The Cobra admits he has lots to prove23 May 2012Carl Froch, the outsider for his IBF world super-middleweight title challenge against Lucian Bute, Amir Khan 2/5 to beat Danny Garcia for WBC light-welterweight title23 May 2012Amir Khan has confirmed he will fight WBC light-welterweight champion Danny Garcia for his title in David Haye denies he is afraid of fighting Vitali Klitschko22 May 2012David Haye has dismissed claims from Vitali Klitschko's manager that he is “afraid” of facing the U Carl Froch v Lucian Bute Tips – Bute to ruin Froch homecoming22 May 2012Carl Froch makes his homecoming at the Nottingham Arena on Saturday, but the party looks set to be Carl Froch v Lucian Bute Tips – Froch to KO champion Bute22 May 2012Carl Froch continues his run of tough opponents by challenging IBF Super Middleweight champion Luci Floyd Mayweather Jr v Anthony Mundine fight odds18 May 2012Floyd Mayweather Jr is a massive favourite to win a potential fight with challenger Anthony Mundine More Stories Recent Articles Monaco Grand Prix Money Back at Paddy Power23 May 2012Paddy Power have confirmed a money back promotion for the next round of the 2012 Formula 1 Champion Republic of Ireland v Bosnia-Herzegovina Money Back at Paddy Power23 May 2012Paddy Power are running a money back offer for Saturday’s international friendly between the Republ Norway v England Money Back at Paddy Power23 May 2012Paddy Power are running a money back offer for Roy Hodgson’s first game in charge of the England na Norway v England Special Offer at Betfred23 May 2012Betfred have made the international friendly between Norway and England the subject of their “Doubl Cheltenham Town v Crewe Alexandra Special Offer at Betfred23 May 2012Sunday’s League Two Play-off Final between Cheltenham Town and Crewe Alexandra is the subject of a Huddersfield Town v Sheffield United Special Offer at Betfred23 May 2012Betfred are offering their “Double Delight” and “Hat-trick Heaven” special for Saturday’s League On More Stories Tags Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao
