A William Hill punter has scooped £30,000 after Andre Ward beat Carl Froch in the final of the Super Six Tournament.

Having staked a £3000 bet at odds of 10/1 in a betting shop when the Super Six tournament was announced some two years ago, a William Hill client made £30,000 profit when Ward outpointed Froch in Atlantic City.

Ironically, the pugilistic punter, an American, staked his bet in a Hill's branch in Nottingham - where Froch comes from.
The same punter also collected £27,500 for a £10,000 bet at 7/4 on Ward to defeat Kessler earlier in the series.

However, the outcome of the fight was not as good news for the majority of British fight fans who backed Froch to pull off an upset triumph.

Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe told Bettingpro.com: “We made a decision to take on Carl Froch - and punters were happy to oblige us.”

Froch went into the fight as 13/5 underdog, with Ward 3/10 favourite - and 1/2 to win, as he did, on points. Hills make Ward 1/8 favourite to win any rematch taking place during 2012, with Froch offered at 9/2.

Sharpe added: “It is difficult to see how Froch can beat ,so a rematch looks unlikely.”
