Khan faces Zab Judah in a unification bout in Las Vegas on Saturday, and the Bolton fighter is looking for an impressive victory that would take him a step closer to fighting Floyd Mayweather Jnr.

Khan’s rise has not gone unnoticed by Mayweather’s camp and the welterweight star's uncle and trainer, Roger, claims the Briton’s success is down to use of illegal substances, the same claim he has made about Khan’s stable-mate Manny Pacquiao.

Mayweather said: “The only reason Amir Khan has become the fighter he is, is because he's got those steroids in his ass. The same thing Pacquiao's got in him.

“I know because Pacquiao's camp told me. I talk to them dudes all the time.”

Khan, however, has strenuously protested his innocence and insists he is a clean fighter.

He said: “I have been drug tested every time - so many times I've lost count. And I have never failed one of them.

“I have been tested out of training camp and in training camp - even answering unexpected knocks at my door to comply. I have proved I am a clean fighter.

“One time I was at home in Bolton and there was a knock at my door after my fight against Paul McCloskey. It was the UK drug people and I could have said no to their request but I didn't.

“I let them in, did the test and it was negative like every other test I have ever had.

“In Los Angeles I have twice been tested and haven't failed, I have shown to everyone that I am clean. I am happy to do anything the drug testers want me to do.

“I have been in Olympic squads as an amateur so I am very aware of what drug testing involves.”
