Little betting interest in Amir Khan
Amir Khan is the 1-8 favourite with bookmakers Coral to defeat the previously unbeaten Dmitriy Salita in his first defence of his WBA Light Welterweight title at the Newcastle Arena on Saturday night, but the Barking firm report that business is slow, with very little taken on the fight so far. The challenger is available at 9-2, with the draw 33-1.
"Maybe betting interest is low because Khan is a lot shorter for this fight than he was for his title challenge in July, but although he rates a 1-8 chance, it might not be as easy as the betting suggest, against the unbeaten New Yorker" said Coral spokesman Gary Burton.
Khan is 6-4 with Coral to win on points, and 4-5 for a stoppage win.
