One of the definitions of Rotative is “happening in regular succession” and the horse of that name provided Betfair punters with yet another 999-1 winner this afternoon, following similar-priced successes on the exchange at the end of last week.

Walter Swinburn’s 3yo newcomer went off at 6-1 to make a winning debut in the 1m2f maiden at Kempton today, yet her cause looked a forlorn one as she rounded the final turn a distant seventh of eight.

At that stage, she drifted to 999-1 on Betfair – with £60 being matched at the ceiling price – but the filly fairly flew up the straight to get up for a neck win from Azure Mist.

Betfair spokesman Tony Calvin commented: “Bermondsey Bob was backed at 999-1 pre-race when winning at Salisbury on Friday, Hoh Hoh Hoh was matched at the maximum price in-running when getting up on the line at Sandown on Saturday – and Rotative completed a memorable treble at Kempton today.

“The unfortunate Rotative layers will certainly be hoping what goes around comes around – for the next 999 times without mishap!”
