One more win and the New Zealand Breakers will successfully defend their Australian National Basketball League title.

The Breakers beat the Perth Wildcats 104-98 in overtime last Thursday to take the upper hand in their best-of-three final series. The two clubs meet again on Friday in Perth.

Cedric Jackson fired 25 points and made eight assists while CJ Bruton added 20 to lead NZ to victory. Daryl Corletto, Mika Vukona and Gary Wilkinson were also impressive for the Breakers, tallying 16, 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Kevin Lisch led the Wildcats with 27 points.

New Zealand assistant coach Dean Vickerman wants their players to remain hungry and finish the series in Perth.

"This is an effort area series and whoever wins those extra rebounds or loose balls, screens a little better is going to be the winner," he told Fairfax NZ News.

"There are no excuses now, we've just got to go in there and try and beat them."

The Breakers, however, have some injury woes to deal with.

Thomas Abercrombie missed Game 1 due to an ankle injury while Wilkinson, Dillon Boucher and Dion Prewster all missed practice due to stomach virus.

Perth coach Rob Beveridge, meanwhile, is upbeat after learning that key player Matthew Knight will be able to play after dislocating a finger in the opening game.

"You always go with the player and Matty said he feels good," he told The West Australian

"He's an integral part of the group and he's been massive for us over the last few weeks."
