San Diego’s season comes to an end as the Huskies win a dramatic match on Thursday night

The Connecticut Huskies and San Diego State Aztecs played in their Western Regional semifinal game on Thursday as the NCAA opened the 2011 Sweet 16 for college basketball.

UCONN entered the game as the three seed but there were a great deal of analysts out there who thought they had the edge against San Diego State, the two seed. Connecticut entered the game hot having won the Big East conference tournament while San Diego State had a 34-2 record on the year.

The game is now over as San Diego State's season has come to an end after a breakout season.

Final Score

#3 Connecticut Huskies: 74
#2 San Diego State Aztecs: 67

Kemba Walker of the Connecticut Huskies had 35 points and the result proves, once again, that a Big East team who wins roughly 75% of their games is a bigger Final Four threat than a small conference team that wins over 90% of their games.

The Duke Blue Devils and the Arizona Wildcats are next up in Anaheim's Honda Center with the winner to play Connecticut on Saturday.
