In the end, it was host China who hoisted the FIBA Asia Championship title in Wuhan.

However, the hosts were pushed to the limit by Jordan before escaping with a 70-69 victory in the gold-medal game to claim their 15th Asian crown.

Yi Jianlian topscored with 25 points, including a free throw that sealed the win for the Chinese. The NBA veteran was later named as the MVP of the tournament.

Liu Wei added 13 points while Wang Zhizhi chipped in 10.

"I'm lucky to be his (Yi Jianlian) coach. In fact I am very lucky to coach all these guys. They know when to step up the gas. Makes my job easier," China head coach Bob Donewald Jr. said.

The win guaranteed China a spot in next year's London Olympics. Jordan, meanwhile, will join third placer South Korea in the World qualifying tournament.
