Asseco Prokom hopes to finish its best Top 16 ever on a high note when it hosts Unicaja in Group G in Gdynia, Poland, on Thursday.

Prokom has already qualified for the Quarterfinal Playoffs, will finish second at the end of this round and face Group H champion Olympiacos in the upcoming best-of-five quarterfinal series.
Unicaja, fourth at 1-4, is already eliminated from the playoff race, but can finish third if it wins and CSKA beats Zalgiris. Both teams may use different rotations in this game due to the circumstances, but will compete for a prestigious win. Prokom has improved at both ends since center Ratko Varda joined the team.
Varda added much-needed experience and post skills to a deep frontcourt that already featured rebounding ace Adam Hrycaniuk, three-point threat Jan Jagla and all-around threat Ronnie Burrell. Varda is ready for an interesting matchup against Robert Archibald, who has been in great shape recently. Georgios Printezis will try to use his quick hands and mobility against Jagla.
Meanwhile, Joel Freeland and Augusto Lima are ready to power the boards against Burrell and Hrycaniuk. Of course, Unicaja must worry about stopping Prokom's scoring leaders Qyntel Woods and David Logan. Woods can dominate any game with his quick first step and one-on-one skills, but faces an outstanding defender in veteran forward Carlos Jimenez.
Meanwhile, Logan is ready to make the most out of his unlimited shooting range and passing skills against Saul Blanco and Zab Dowdell. Berni Rodriguez is seeing extended playing time lately and could use his experience and talent against Logan. Unicaja can also count on swingman Jiri Welsch to try and stop Woods. Prokom will get help off the bench at both wings from defensive ace Piotr Szczkota and sharpshooter Przemyslaw Zamojski.
The hosts must stop playmaker Omar Cook to improve their chances to win. Daniel Ewing will see most minutes at point guard against Cook due to his talent and court vision, but Prokom can count on Junior Harrington to improve its defense and intensity. Unicaja must get Archibald and Freeland involved inside, as well Jimenez and Cook. Prokom must run its offense through Logan and Woods and keep its usual level in defense. Expect an interesting battle in Poland on Thursday.
