The Nigerians had a two-point lead entering the fourth quarter but the Angolans made a decisive run to claim the win and a place in the gold-medal match. Two-time FIBA Africa MVP Joaquim Gomes led Angola with 15 points, five rebounds and two assists. Veteran forward Eduardo Mingas also had 15 points and grabbed four rebounds. Ejike Ugboaja topscored for the Nigerians with 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. NBA veteran Ime Udoka had 11 points but was scoreless in the second half. Awaiting Angola in the final is Tunisia, which beat Côte d'Ivoire 60-57 in the other semifinal. Macram Ben Romdhane again showcased his dominance on the paint, posting another double double performance of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Giant center Salah Mejri also made his presence felt inside, finishing with 14 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots. Errick Craven and Mohamed Kone paced the Ivorians with 11 points each. Angola and Tunisia will meet in the FIBA Africa Championship final for the first time. The Angolans are the six-time defending champions in this tournament. Tunisia, meanwhile, is seeking its first FIBA Africa crown after settling for the silver medal in 1965 and third-place finishes in 1970, 1974 and 2009. The winner of the tournament will be Africa's lone representative to next year's London Olympics.
