San Diego need to halt poor recent run

The San Diego Padres have been one of the most consistent Major League Baseball teams all season but lately they have been in a total free fall.  Losers of 7 in a row a once comfortable lead in the NL West has now been closed down to just 3 games by the San Francisco Giants.

San Diego now have a home series against the Colorado Rockies that they really need to win in order to regain some momentum and the first game of that series starts tonight at 10pm ET.

The pitching match-up definitely leaves something to be desired as Aaron Cook takes to the hill for Colorado with his 4-8 record and 5.34 ERA.  San Diego have Cory Luebke making his Major League debut and the OVER has been set low at 7.5 with bet365 at EVEN odds.  With one starting pitcher making his debut and with another starting pitcher having an ERA well over 5, there could certainly be some early scoring in tonight's game and the OVER line looks quite valuable.

But picking a straight up winner isn't the easiest thing to do in this game.  Someone obviously has to win but you can't feel confident in getting a read on either team to do that.  San Diego have dropped 7 in a row and right there you should want to avoid them.  Colorado on the other hand have dropped three in a row and they are just 26-42 on the road.

If you were making a pick, you should probably go with San Diego at -129 (10/13) with BoyleSports but our top recommendation for this game is to back the OVER for total runs.
