MLB Betting returns this week, with the highlight being the Philadelphia Phillies facing Milwaukee Brewers in a four game series that pitches the best team from the NL East against the best NL Central team.

Detroit Tigers at Cleveland Indians (September 7th)

The Tigers go with ace Justin Verlander (21-5, 2.34 ERA) on Wednesday afternoon as they close out their three-game road series against the Indians.

Verlander will be gunning for his 10th consecutive win on Wednesday; the right-hander hasn't been tagged with a loss since falling to the White Sox on July 15th.

Verlander took care of the Indians when he last faced them on August 11th in Cleveland, giving up three runs on three hits over seven innings pitched that game.

Justin Masterson (11-8, 2.92 ERA) is the Tribe's probable starter Wednesday; the right-hander is 0-3 with a 5.00 ERA in nine career contests against the Tigers.

San Diego Padres at Arizona Diamondbacks (September 8th)

Ian Kennedy (18-4, 2.96 ERA) will be looking to inch closer to the 20-win mark on Thursday when his Diamondbacks begin a four-game set vs. the Padres.

Kennedy ran his victory total to 18 last-time-out by holding the Giants to one run in seven innings, and he's managed to get the win in nine of his last 10 starts.

The right-hander last took on the Padres at home on August 28th, surrendering a single run on six hits over seven innings, while fanning seven in that victory.

The Padres will counter with Cory Luebke (5-8, 3.29 ERA) on Thursday; the left-hander was the losing pitcher on August 28th (three runs allowed in 5 1-3 innings).

Philadelphia Phillies at Milwaukee Brewers (September 8th)

Two of baseball's very best teams will begin a series in Milwaukee on Thursday night as the NL East-leading Phillies take on the NL Central-leading Brewers.

Philadelphia go with Cole Hamels (13-7, 2.63 ERA) in the opener, with the left-hander heading into the contest looking to pick up his first victory since August 6th.

Hamels, though, has allowed three or fewer earned runs in nine of his past 10 trips to the mound, while Philadelphia have managed to win six of his last 10 outings.

Chris Narveson (10-6, 4.26 ERA) gets the ball for the Brewers on Thursday, and he's coming off a winning performance against the Astros (two runs in five innings).

Round-Up

On Wednesday the Brewers will close out a road series in St. Louis against the Cardinals, with Zack Greinke (14-5, 4.00 ERA) pitching for Milwaukee that day.

The Phillies, meanwhile, are at home on Wednesday night to finish up a three-game set against the Braves. Roy Oswalt (7-8, 3.80 ERA) will pitch for Philly.

Right-hander Oswalt has had a rough time against the Braves so far in his career, going just 1-3 through 10 appearances and posting a high 5.56 ERA against them.
