This is the final game of a four game series, a series that the White Sox lead 3-0 and where the Angels have been limited to only five runs in three games.

The Angels are 5 ½ games behind the Texas Rangers coming into Thursday and can hardly afford to be swept at home. Hoping to stop the rot will be Ervin Santana and if he can replicate his last performance against the White Sox the Angels will fancy their chance at the win. Santana pitched seven scoreless innings when he last faced the White Sox on May 20th but that was on the road where he has been better this season. Santana’s ERA is a whole run less on the road than it is at home. Santana’s recent form has been patchy at best as he’s given up at least three earned runs in each of his last five starts.

After going 18-9 in June and 5-1 so far in July the Chicago White Sox find themselves only 1 game behind the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central. The White Sox have really turned their season around and will be looking to John Danks to keep that form going and seal the four game sweep in LA. Danks put in a strong performance the last time he faced the Angels, giving up only two earned runs in 7 2/3 innings but he has had an inconsistent season so far. Looking at his splits he shows the opposite trend to Santana. Danks has an ERA of 4.29 on the road but an ERA of 3.10 at home; and after a strong start in March and April he has a consistent ERA of around 4 in every month since. His recent form has also been a mixed bag; last time out he gave up two earned runs in 6 innings while the outing before that he gave up six earned in five.

Looking at both teams offenses the LA Angels have not been hitting very well in the last thirty days and have an OPS of .708 while the White Sox have been very effective and have an OPS of .757. The White Sox are available at 4/6 to complete the sweep while the LA Angels can be backed at 11/10 for the win.
