The Australian Football League’s (AFL) annual pre-season tournament the NAB Cup kicks off this weekend with four first round matches taking centre stage.
This is the last time the NAB Cup pre-season competition will be staged in its current knockout format with new club Gold Coast FC being introduced at the start of the AFL season in 2011.
This weekend sees West Coast Eagles, who are 20-1 with bwin.com to take the title, take on the Essendon Bombers who are also priced at 20-1 to win the tournament which will
culminate in the final on Saturday, March 13.
Betting odds for this opening round contest sees
Betfair making the West Coast Eagles available at 5-8 with the Bombers priced at 6-4.
Bwin.com have last season’s winners the Geelong Cats, who overcame the Collingwood Magpies 127-51 in the final, priced second favourites at 3-1 with punters managing to get odds of 10-1 on the Magpies going one step better this time out.
The same company have installed the St Kilda Saints, who open their cup campaign the following week when they take on the Magpies at Ethiad Stadum, as their hot favourites at 11-4.
