Warrnambool Carnival preview

Johnny Knoxville ridden by Adam Trinder clears the last in the Sungold Milk Galleywood Hurdle during day two of the Warrnambool May Racing Carnival on April 30, 2008 in Warrnambool, Australia. (Photo by Mark Dadswell/Getty Images)
Wednesday brings the second day of the famous Warrnambool Carnival.

The two feature races are the Sungold Milk Galleywood Hurdle and the Midfield Group Wangoom Handicap. Place a Fixed Odds or LuxDiv WIN bet on any race at this meeting with Luxbet and if your selection comes second to the SP favourite, get a Bonus Bet equal to your stake, up to $200 .

Luxbet Bookmaker Tristan De Luca had this to say about the days racing; 'We start with the Galleywood as Australia's jumps champion Black and Bent looks to claim his second crown on his way to nine straight jumps wins. With master hurdles jockey Steven Pateman aboard, he will start all the rage and is currently $1.30. Above Average ($8) shapes as the main competition after an impressive jumps debut win at Sandown several weeks ago.'

'The Listed Wangoom Handicap is an open affair with the main chances coming in the form of Second Effort ($4) and Freereturn ($5) who is looking to continue his impressive form of 7 wins and 4 placings in his last 11 races. The main focus of the race though will be the return of the Darren Weir trained Wealth Princess. Returning after nearly a 2 year layoff,  the mare ran second to Melito in the Group 1 Winter Stakes at Eagle Farm in her last start. She is currently favourite at $3.60.'

Due to the abandonment of Eagle Farm on Saturday, group racing also takes place in Brisbane today.  'Two former interstate runners will look to fight out the Gunsynd Classic. Trump ($3.1) and Brambles ($2.90) are the 2 picks in the market, but will also see competition from the Kiwi import Quintessential ($5) after some impressive performances in NZ Group Racing.'
