Australian Star Jockey Craig Williams bound overseas

Australia's star jockey Craig Williams is off overseas to fulfil another exciting career in the Northern Hemisphere.

Williams will ride in Japan for the boss of Northern Farm racing and breeding operations Katsumi Yoshida over the next two months, breaking up his contract with a couple of trips to ride in England. Yoshida is also a part-owned in crack three-year-old Australian filly Mosheen.

Williams will reunite with the NSW sprinter Ortensia at Royal Ascot on June 19. Williams has been aboard the mare at her biggest wins in Australia and rode her to claim the Al Quoz Sprint at the Dubai World Cup meeting in March.

The champion jockey will also be back a board French stayer Dunaden in the Coronation Cup at Epsom on June 19.

Williams missed the winning ride on Dunaden in last year's Melbourne Cup because of a riding suspension, but rode the horse to claim the Hong Kong Vase at the International meeting at Shatin last December.

"I ride Alfredo in the NHK Mile on Sunday and there are a lot of other big rides coming up," Williams said.

"I ride for Mr Yoshida and think I have about three choices in the Oaks and two options in the Derby.

"It is very exciting."

Yoshida bought inton the family of Doncaster-Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner More Joyous, paying $750,000 for the first filly from Tuesday Joy, who is a half sister to Sunday Joy the dam of More Joyous at the Inglis Sydney Easter Sale last month.

Williams has been a regular traveller to Japan each year after getting infected by the travel back back in 2000 when he rode in England for Mick Channon and linked with Tobougg.
