Blackburn Rovers boss wants Middlesbrough midfielder
Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce has admitted that he is interested in making Middlesbrough midfielder Gary O’Neil his first January transfer window signing, although he has claimed that a lack of funds at Ewood Park could hinder any potential move for the player.
With Allardyce previously stating that Rovers would have to sell before they could buy, it seems the manager may have to wait to off-load players, before he can make any offer for O’Neil, who could be sold by ‘Boro in order to fund Gordon Strachan’s own transfer activity.
However, Allardyce admitted that no bids have been forthcoming for any of his players, saying:
"Not at the moment because we haven't had a bid for anybody.
"We will have to just wait and see what progresses in that area."
Of O’Neil, the former Bolton manager added:
"We're aware of the availability of Gary O'Neil from Middlesbrough,
"But at the moment we don't have any finances in place to move for any players.
"If that changes and the board tells me there is, then we'll have a look in the market.
"If it doesn't, then we stay with what we've got."
Blackburn host Fulham on Sunday, and are 6/4 (Coral) to continue their decent home record with a win over the Cottagers, who struggle on their travels.
