Arsene Wenger hopes to have his striker back before season’s end
Arsene Wenger has claimed that he is hopeful that injured striker Robin Van Persie will be back in action at some point in April, although he says his return is dependant on the Dutchman suffering no setbacks in his recovery.
Van Persie scored seven goals in eleven games for the Gunners at the start of the season, and without him, the Arsenal attack looks somewhat blunted, and Wenger is understandably keen to have him back as soon as possible, saying:
"If you ask me is it the beginning of April, I would say categorically no because he has not started any real fitness work yet," Wenger told the club's official website.
"Once he starts that, it will take at least six weeks.
"Maybe (he will be back) at the end of April if all goes well. If there is no setback, he should be back before the end of the season but it is very difficult to predict."
