The match will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the same venue where India defeated the home team in the second T20I.

India (7/5 at SportingBet) will be bouyed by their win over Australia in that second T20I, a victory that snapped their 16-match streak away from home where they won nothing.

This is also a format that India prefer, having won the World Cup last year and the home series against England and West Indies with ease. They will also derive hope from history - the last time they toured Australia in 2007-08, they went on to win the tri-series by beating Australia in the finals.

That was skipper MS Dhoni's first tour as captain and he will now look to live up to that lofty start.

Gautam Gambhir showed signs of form in the second T20I, which could raise questions about the opening combination. With Sachin Tendulkar back into the playing 11, he will prefer opening the innings. This will mean that one of Gambhir or Virender Sehwag may push down the order and it may not be a bad idea to get Sehwag at three.

The bowling line-up could change as well, as India will look to include at least one more quick bowler in the line-up and replace Vinay Kumar with another. Zaheer Khan and Irfan Pathan will get a look-in in place of Rahul Sharma and Vinay.

Australia (8/13 at BetFred) will see a dramatic change to their starting 11 as well, as Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke and Michael Hussey will walk right back in. Opening batsman Dave Warner could have wicket-keeper Matthew Wade as his partner at the top, unless the selectors want to bat Peter Forrest at the top.

Brett Lee will lead the pace attack which should also see Mitchell Starc, the left-arm pacer to share the new ball. One of Mitchell Marsh or Clint McKay will be the third pacer in the starting 11.

Expect a tough encounter and if India can field the way they did in the second T20I, it will be a huge advantage for them.

The Australia v India 1st ODI will be played at the MCG at 3.00 am GMT on February 5.
