Sportingbet was founded in 1998 and the sportsbook website was launched in October that year. They have been listed as a plc on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange since 2001. The company have acquired several smaller betting companies along the way, the most notable being SportingOdds.com in June 2002, which was recently integrated into the SportingBet brand.

Although Sportingbet are one of the biggest online bookmakers in the world, there is certainly room for improvement as far as their website and undermanned customer service is concerned. However, the reason for their growth is their ability to provide a first-class betting service (in terms of market coverage and competitive odds) to customers in a range of languages. They also have possibly the most generous open account offer in the business.
