MyBet

Summary

MyBet.com might have a strapline that customers can ‘win with ease’, although they might want to focus a little more on allowing them to ‘bet with ease’ instead. The one saving grace for MyBet.com is that they have excellent soccer odds, although it can take a few clicks to navigate through to the markets that you want to place bets on.

While it appears that the company have reverted from being a betting exchange to a fixed-odds sportsbook, there is a clear attempt to offer tight margins to customers on all the top soccer leagues and for that they should be applauded. They have also introduced live betting in the last few months and it’s a neat console where you can see the odds change in real time.

Background

MyBet.com’s strapline is ‘winning with ease’, although it’s not clear as to whether that refers to the company or the customer! Established at the beginning of 2003, the website is available in seven different languages and MyBet.com is a brand name of Personal Exchange International Limited (PEI Ltd.). The company’s registered address is in Malta and this is also where they are licensed which is pretty respectable in terms of regulation.

Although mybet.com’s claim that they are the number one Internet trading site for sports and financial betting is clearly a huge exaggeration, they look as though they have switched from being an exchange like betfair and instead opted to go down the fixed odds route instead.

Odds and Markets

Their claim about strong odds is indeed correct, with the prices on the soccer favourites comparing favourably to any other bookmaker in the industry. It’s clear that soccer is where the margins are tightest and you can expect something in the region of 20 pre-match markets for the top leagues.

The other sports that are afforded decent coverage are tennis, ice hockey, darts and basketball. One also imagines that the other US sports are well covered when that time of the year comes around. The ice hockey markets concentrate on the central European leagues and the same applies to basketball.

For live In-Play betting, you can expect a dozen markets on all the top soccer matches and all the events covered are neatly housed when you visit the ‘Live Bets’ section of the website.

Website

The website is fairly basic, with a static left-hand sports menu (with collapsible sub-sections) and then a betting coupon providing the main feature of the homepage. The coupon seems to bundle together the upcoming sports events, although this includes various sports which can sometimes give it a disorganised feel. There’s also a random drop-down menu for customers to try and find their sporting event of choice, although we recommend sticking to the left-hand menu!

There’s a downside in that no live betting seems to be available, although when it comes to finding your bet, eg Premier League for the weekend, you need to click on ‘Soccer’, then ‘England’, then ‘Premier League’. As you scroll up and down, a betting slip will move along the right-hand side although placing of a bet seems to be a straightforward business.

Customer Service

MyBet.com fall short in this category. Clicking on ‘Contact’ brings up an online form with no guarantee of when somebody is going to respond to your query.

Indeed, it can be anything up to 12 hours before you hear back from a customer service representative. However, there is also a phone number and you will get through to someone straight away. There is an FAQ section which addresses a handful of queries.
