Summary
Coral are a leading player in the UK betting industry and will also appeal to customers overseas, especially with their Eurobet brand which is available in sixteen different languages and has all the same markets and odds as the Coral website. They are extremely competitive when it comes to pricing and have one of the most user-friendly websites in the game due to a massive improvement on their previous offering.
Coral also do In-Play particularly well, especially the way that the various markets are laid out when you visit this section of their site. It’s a little disappointing that they haven’t yet evolved to having 24/7 customer service yet, although they are quick, friendly and helpful when it comes to resolving queries and their free bet offer is one of the most generous in the industry.

Background
Coral (along with William Hill and Ladbrokes) are traditionally one of the ‘Big Three’ bookmakers in the UK, although this applies more to their retail outlets than their online operation. They have over 1600 betting shops in addition to their telephone and online service.
They have been online since 1997, joining forces with Eurobet.com in 1999 to become Coral Eurobet. They were acquired by the Gala Group in October 2005 and their online offering has improved significantly in recent years which have brought them up to speed with their competitors. Their odds are generally more competitive than Hills and Ladbrokes, so they do recognise that their brand cannot be too heavily relied upon in an increasingly tough marketplace.

Odds and Markets
Coral are pretty competitive when it comes to the prices that they offer on horse racing and football. They are the only bookmaker to have a ticker on the homepage stating all the teams and horses that they are offering best price about for a particular weekend and they clearly have a strong trading team for the two core sports on the site. For racing, they provide early prices for their customers ahead of many other firms and often provide enhanced each-way terms on the big races, especially for events like the Cheltenham Festival and Royal Ascot.
When it comes to betting on the big football matches and leagues, you can get roughly 50 pre-match markets on La Liga, Premier League and Champions League and around a dozen In-Play betting opportunities. There are also regularly enhanced multiple bets on offer and Coral also seem committed to offering plenty of promotions and concessions on sports such as cricket, rugby league, tennis and snooker. This is a strong area for Coral.
Website
This new Coral website was a long time coming and is a massive improvement on what the company had before. It’s a bright clean interface which highlights the day’s big sporting events through a rotating graphic and there’s a ticker above this which highlights which horses and teams that the bookmaker are deciding to go best price about. Then there’s a ‘Quick Bet’ section where users can choose from live betting, next 5 races / sports or the popular bets that are being selected and the bet slip functionality allows the customer to include bankers among their selections.
Coral also now have a bespoke In-Play section which is extremely well structured, separating out the various sports that are being covered (something that most bookmakers don’t do). The live console allows customers to place bets in real time and the odds are updated every few seconds in accordance to what’s happening on the field of play.
Finding a bet that you want to place is nice and easy, with the soccer section broken down into the different leagues and the coupons laid out in a nice user-friendly format.
